Colin Alston joined the Internet Society in 2005 and was elected to the committee later that year for matters relating to the Durban chapter.

In 2004 Colin co-founded Slipgate, a successful and dynamic group providing diverse hosting solutions. In late 2006, Slipgate closed shop to it's public hosting services and negotiated migration of it's client base to Thusa. The Slipgate servers continue to operate for the personal use of it's previous stake holders, as well as for it's mail systems.

By day Colin is currently the senior Linux and internet services developer at Thusa specializing in network management systems. By night he is currently investigating deployment of IPv6 to end users in South Africa and attempting to gather resources to create applicable resources for our ISPs, as well as furthering his education via UNISA.
